There is currently an installation of fossils, minerals, and crystals at our library, which is the first time I have seen polished amonite. A few years back, we discovered a patch of rose quartz that had washed ashore with the tide at Stinson Beach. We surmised it was from a vein exposed in the San Andreas Fault. Later we experienced a regular beaching of agates for about two years, which has since ended, but not before noticing that one had a fossilized red bug inside.
