Stones available for setting in a piece of jewellery:
Jasper, Opalite, Amazonite, Quartz, Sodalite, Tourquoise, Moss Agate, Crysocolla, Florite, Tiger Eye, Garnet, Aquamarine, Apatite, Verdite, Pearl, Calcite, Azurite, Obsidion, Botswana Agate, Feldspar.
Others include:
seaglass, fossil, powa or abalone

  1. There is currently an installation of fossils, minerals, and crystals at our library, which is the first time I have seen polished amonite. A few years back, we discovered a patch of rose quartz that had washed ashore with the tide at Stinson Beach. We surmised it was from a vein exposed in the San Andreas Fault. Later we experienced a regular beaching of agates for about two years, which has since ended, but not before noticing that one had a fossilized red bug inside.
