Amazonite silver rings

November 29, 2007

These two rings are set with amazonite, a blue-green stone sometimes called microline. Each ring is entirely hand-made. The amazonite is hand formed at Starstone Lapidary Workshop by Gordon McClean Lardy.

Moonstone silver ring

Here, I used a thin band to emphasize the oval shape. I like to keep the focus on the stone because it needs no embellishment.

The commissioner wanted a bracelet with four stones tucked into a delicate arm band. During the process, one amazonite refused to set. Then, I changed from amazonite to a faceted garnet and it worked straight away!

Spectrolite silver ring

November 29, 2007

This stone comes from Starstone Lapidary Workshop, Gordon McClean Lardy. I slightly reduced the size of the stone to fit the silver setting, which was offered by the commissioner. The green-blue luminescent quality of spectrolite makes it a great alternative to moonstone.
