Celestite pendant

May 31, 2008

celestite24
I have made a Celestite point into a pendant by wrapping it in sterling silver wire. It has a loop in the back where it can be strung on a chain. The Celestite comes from Madagascar.

If you are interested in commissioning some handmade jewellery, feel free to contact me.

Both of these pieces were originally part of a beautiful silver bracelet. The owner wore the bracelet for a long time, until it came apart through use. I removed the stone and set it in sterling silver, then converted the remaining bit into a pendant. Re-making jewellery has special meaning for people. It is not always possible, but I will be very honest if I can work with the material or not.

Copper wire was used to make the pendulum, also florite and tourmaline.

Selenite pendant

May 14, 2008

The selenite pendant is 10cm X 7.5cm and the stone was bought in Amsterdam, Holland. I have wire wrapped it with sterling silver and it can be easily worn with a chain of your choice.
Selenite is a variety of gypsum that is common in sedimentary rocks. It is a clear, striated crystal which is soft and fragile, measuring 2 on Moh’s scale. Selenite is formed from evaporated salt water in land locked lakes or seas isolated from open oceans.

Aquamarine pendant

May 5, 2008

This African aquamarine is set in sterling silver. I worked the stone slightly to polish out some rough edges before making the setting. When I first saw it I was drawn to the color, but later became inspired by the hexagonal shape of this mineral. I have a very clear light blue-green version that would make a gorgeous ring.

The Frog and Raven rings were commissioned by a couple. It was their wish to blend aspects of Irish Celtic and Native American culture together in the design. The images are hand-sawed into sterling silver. One ring is set with a peridot and a garnet, and the other with a faceted peridot.
