Cleansing a crystal

December 18, 2007

When cleansing a crystal we are working on a subtle, energetic level. The crystal responds to our intention. For instance, we might put a crystal through running water in a spring or stream with the intention of returning the stone to its original essence. Or, we might place the crystal in the open full moon/sunlight to reflect back qualities of clear consciousness. The activity of cleansing is successful when we fulfill our desire through intention!

Most stones are able to be cleansed through moving water or moon/sunlight, but check first to be sure that the colors won’t fade.
For instance, opal looses its brightness in water, and turquoise looses its color with too much sun.

Keeping it

December 12, 2007

When you have your special piece of gemstone jewellery, keep it in it’s pouch or somewhere that it can safely BE when you aren’t wearing it.
This keeps it from getting lost or damaged.
On a subtle level, it ensures that your gems retain their essence as much as possible.

I suggest wearing your jewellery when you know you won’t have to take it off for some reason.

For the moment, Full!

October 7, 2007

Due to the great demand for jewellery, I will not be taking any more orders until January 2008. For those of you who have put in your requests as of today, thank you, and bear with me as I hammer and file away until completion.

kyanite?

September 11, 2007

I recieved some kyanite pieces from a favorite rock shop in Amsterdam, Nederlands. One is very long and dark, and would make a beautiful pendant. Another is thick and square, some are small and will make lovely rings. Are you interested in a one-of-a-kind piece of kyanite jewellery?
These are rough stones with a raw look, though they can be polished too.

L’or

July 28, 2007

A question was asked weather or not I make wedding rings in gold, and the answer is no. Its not that I won’t ever, but silver suits me best right now. I like it because of its reflective qualities, and it has always been my personal favorite to wear.

Florite

June 22, 2007

Some beautiful blue-green-purple florite nuggets have been sourced, some of them with inclusions. They are polished into cube shapes, chunky circles and flat round pieces.

Many of the gemstones I use to create jewellery have come from Northern Wales, which I first visited in 1996. I attended a workshop with Gordon McLean Lardy where I learned the basics of cutting and polishing gemstones. Identifying and discovering subtle qualities was great fun, and I could combine these with silver designs which I was beginning to practise. Since then my interest has grown, and I have returned to Starstone several times.
Gordon has hand faceted, crafted, many stones from which I make jewellery.
It is a genuine pleasure to be able to create jewellery in this very unique and personal way.
